Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture
Michael Alley - the guy on the right side of the photo, in the tie. He was a fan of design in general, and lived his life that way. A firm he had worked at early on in his career was known for their high-design standard. They had to keep growing their geographic area, because, in the end, they would do only one project per client, then need to move on to other clients, as their “good design” meant that the building was great as an object, but did not serve the purposes of the client.
Perry Poyner - the guy int he glasses sitting on the top of the steps. He truly wanted to make buildings that worked for people - sometimes at the sacrifice of “good design”. Most times, both things happened, and because of this, he instilled in me the knowledge that “repeat clients are the least expensive marketing program a firm can have.”
Albert Machietto - the guy wearing the mortar board, beside Michael. Incredibly holistic in his view of architecture, an amazing mentor and teacher. Technically proficient, and well-balanced in so many ways. His father was an engineer, and served as a strong role model for Albert’s life. He truly is an architect with a firm grounding in engineering - and a teacher.
